Who is going to say it? Who is going to say it? I'll say it!
The entire recruitment infrastructure has collapsed and you don't even see it. You are standing above the rubble thinking recruitment and the market has changed. No, the system has collapsed that's why recruiters, employers, and candidates are having an awful time!
Recruitment looks like this: Picture a collapsed building with only rubbles left (tons of CVs). Recruiters are rummaging through the rubbles, picking up a few bricks within their sight (candidate profile) that look ok to present to the employer.Â
There is no match there in terms of skills, experience, expertise or competence. What employers receive are the CVs picked from the top of the rubble or from the "I know this person" pile. When recruiters call you, they ask the most basic questions about your salary expectations, and your willingness to relocate, or they explain the company. Most of the time they don't even have info about the role. As if they have given up and just going through the notion of talking to you.Â
Here is the thing, you cannot blame them. They are working under a collapsed infrastructure and that's the reason you are not getting a job. That's the reason companies don't get the skills and knowledge they need. Add to the mess the millions of ghost job postings, and the constant job reposts by the platforms themselves that are mostly filled already, and you get the current situation.Â
Maybe it is time to admit that the wrong use of technology, our unpreparedness for AI, our inability to know what and who we are looking for, and the hastily adopted systems have caused this mess.Â
Stop! Close all job advertisements don't use them going forward! You don't need a job advertisement to find candidates! Establish talent scouts within your organisations whose job is to actively find suitable candidates and enable continuous access to talent. The system has collapsed, stop using it or suffer and complain about talent shortage. There is no talent shortage only talent blindness because they are all buried under the rubble. Start digging they are there.Â
I wrote about it previously read here:
