Could this also be why the older generation at the workplace are saying, "These young people don't want to listen"? They don't necessarily disagree with what older generations are telling them they just don't like how it is delivered.
My experience is that young people are so hungry for advice and attention. They are open to coaching and guidance. They want to tell you about their challenges and struggles. They come even on their day off or two hours earlier for their shift so they can spend time with you and learn.
Could it be that it is your approach that makes them not listen? My approach to everyone is, "I am here and can offer things that might be helpful for you, but I will not impose myself on you. You need to come." And they come!
Watch your approach because I guarantee you that you have said the same as the meme below, and it is not different at work with younger people.
