Managing WhatsApp Groups is Not a Management Skill

In my last place, I was a member of 13 WhatsApp groups. How many do you think I read? Only one.

I often ask managers and leaders about effective communication. Without fail, they all mention WhatsApp.

There is nothing wrong with WhatsApp groups what is wrong is the number of groups we are part of.

Imagine attending 13 groups? I would not have had time to do my job if I paid attention to all.

Another problem is that it gives managers and leaders a false sense of belief that they communicate. They don't if nobody is reading it.

Ask your team members how many WhatsApp groups they are part of within the organisations and see how much they actually read.
